Parish Councils and Participatory Budgeting - 10am

• National launch of PB toolkit for Parish Councils
• Presentation of the results of the Yorkshire PB Pilots

PB events in the region (and nationally) have focussed on larger population groupings than parishes and have generally relied on external support and funding. Recognising that such support is unlikely to be available to the same extent in the future, yet at the same time aware of the need to promote the ‘big society’ approach, the RIEP funded a project to look at how PB could be run by Parish Councils using their own local resources. The Project that started in October 2009 has looked at the legalities and the practicalities of Parish Councils running PB , followed by 12 pilots in the North Yorkshire Sub-region.
