Localising the Big Society - A Consultation Institute Roundtable
On Monday, following weeks of high-profile figures criticising the Government over its flagship policy - including Dame Elisabeth Hoodless, Executive Director, CVS who stated that the Coalition cuts are ‘destroying the big society’ - the Prime Minster re-launched the ‘Big Society’ project. He insisted it was his ‘mission in politics’ and that it was ‘here to stay’.
During his speech, prior to the launch of a new Cabinet Office paper, Growing the Social Market: A vision and strategy, Mr Cameron reiterated that there will be ‘no one single policy’ that encapsulates the Big Society; ‘What we are talking about’ he said, ‘is a whole stream of things that need to be done’.
