LGYH AGM and Annual Conference

June 25, 2010 - Royal Armouries, Leeds

Local Government Yorkshire and Humber AGM and Annual Conference 2010

This year's Local Government Yorkshire and Humber AGM and Annual Conference will be taking place on Friday 25th June between 9.30am and 1.30pm in the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

2010-11 looks set to be a challenging year for the public sector. This year the LGYH AGM and Annual Conference will be a great opportunity to hear first hand what the impact on local government of national policy will be, and contribute to discussions on what we can do across the region to ensure our aims objectives and priorities are realised.

This year we are delighted to include Irene Lucas as our key note speaker. Irene is the Director General responsible for Local Government at CLG and will be speaking about the future of public services, localism and the impact on local government of national policies following the recent election. In the light of future spending cuts and radical changes to the public sector this will be a valuable and very informative session.

The event will also include an opportunity to participate in the official AGM business as well as a plenary session on the key issues facing local government, including workforce and organisational development issues and how to extend democratic accountability. The plenary session will be followed by round table facilitated workshops on the following 10 topics, important issues we will all need to address in the coming year.

1. Total Capital and Asset Management
2. Total Place and Total Governance

4. Climate Change
