Total Place Conference 2 October 2009,

October 2, 2009 - Banqueting Suite, Bradford City Hall

This event is open to To: Local Strategic Partnership Chairs, Local Authority Chief Executives and LSP Managers

IDeA, GOYH and YoHr Space are working with the Bradford District Partnership to showcase their experience as a Total Place pilot.

We are writing to invite you to a half day conference on the morning of Friday 2 October 2009. The conference aims to increase awareness and understanding of the aspirations of Total Place and provide an opportunity for partners to share experiences so far. Central to this Tony Reeves, Bradford Council Chief Executive, will update colleagues on the Partnership’s work as a pilot.

The conference will provide an overview of the Total Place concept and outline its place in the efficiency and service transformation agenda with aspirations for cultural change. We will be gathering thoughts and ideas on common challenges and ensuring that we capture questions and innovative solutions to circulate after the event.

Colleagues in the region are eager to learn from Bradford’s experiences and the conference provides a platform for this. You may be aware that the chosen theme for the Total Place pilot is “Gateway to Integrated Services” with three specific sub themes:

  • Offenders leaving prison/young offenders institutions
  • Older people leaving hospital
  • Young people leaving a care environment

The Bradford Partnership aims to engage the community in defining an innovative, effective and efficient approach which allows access to integrated services across the district to support people back into independence.

The conference is aimed at a mix of interests with the focus on efficiency and improved services. It will be of interest to local authority and partner organisations involved in
LSPs and particularly colleagues at Corporate Director or Assistant Director level with operational responsibilities linked to the above themes.  Elected members with portfolios for partnerships, resources, young and older people and crime will find the session of interest.

The session will commence at 10.00 am with registration from 9.30 am and finish with lunch at 1.15 pm. The outline programme for the conference is attached.

This Total Place event replaces the one previously advertised to take place on 22 September at GOYH offices. The Bradford Banqueting Suite has a larger capacity though it may still be necessary to limit numbers by area to allow a fair spread of attendance. It is likely that there will be 3-4 places available for each area and it is suggested that LSP managers coordinate the bookings to ensure a representative delegation.

Please reserve your places via the IDeA Knowledge website at 'online booking form' using the on-line booking system. For further information or assistance in respect of the booking procedure please contact becky.habgood@idea.gov.uk or tel. 020 7296 6286.

On the booking site you will be asked for your first and second choices for the workshops:
Group 1: Offenders leaving prison/young offenders institutions
Group 2: Older people leaving hospital
Group 3: Young people leaving a care environment
Group 4: Total Place – Counting public sector funding
Group 5: Efficiency and Transformation, other experiences
