Background:
Through capacity building funding, South Yorkshire was one of the first county regions to develop a small area information website, providing joined up information from each council. There is information on population, community safety, fire, health, education and economic data in the sub region, all of which is available to local authorities, communities, partners, elected members, regional bodies and government bodies. LAA targets are also available via LASOS along with performance data. This programme was previously supported by the capacity building fund and developed in South Yorkshire with a view to roll out across the region. Costs are dependent on uptake from the region and range from £280,000 - £600,700. Year 1 part costs have been approved. Future developments will be dependent on the outcome of discussions regionally.
Delivery:
Funding will provide a project team to continue to develop the South Yorkshire phase of the Project. Regional roll out will be achieved through showcase events to demonstrate the system and its benefits across the region and beyond. Study visits and roadshows will also be offered (as in North Yorkshire and with West Yorkshire Police) to discuss the potential of joint working. A wide variety of other information sharing and communication mechanisms will be used including developing the web presence and online feedback mechanisms; training and awareness raising sessions; exploration of potential online forum mechanism; newsletters and establishment of a contact database /mailing list. Groups will be targeted including LSPs, the third sector and local communities.
Outcomes:
Regional roll out and further development of the system to: improve performance and identify areas of under-performance; enable identification and assessment of key demands \likely demands in the region to enable more effective targeting of resources and facilitate council improvement; support the development, delivery and performance management for LAAs, CAA and MAA assessment; improve efficiency and consistency; enhance partnership working and sharing of expertise, and effectively use existing expertise for overall regional gain.
