Background:
To meet capacity gaps identified by Councils, Fire and Police which inhibit the establishment of growth of Apprenticeship Programmes.
 
To employ two 12 month temporary Apprenticeship Managers to fill those capacity gaps and to establish strong, effective engagement processes and practices between Councils, Police and Fire and the National Apprenticeship Service.
 
Delivery: 
To fill capacity gaps identified by Councils, Fire and Police through a series of consultation meetings with all four Sub-Regions. The capacity gaps are hindering the growth of Apprenticeship activities in the organisations concerned.
 
To establish effective engagement processes and activities between Councils, Police and Fire and the National Apprenticeship Service in the region that exist beyond the end of the project. Workforce issues are a part of the CI&VFM element of the RIES and this project will address a key workforce issue.
 
Outcomes:
Strong networks In Sub-Regions and regionally that drives continuing growth in Apprenticeships, share practice and learning and collaborate to work more effectively.

Growth of Apprenticeship numbers in Council programmes to ensure that the region makes its contribution to national growth targets.

An Apprenticeship programme for 14-16 year olds at least in every Sub-Region within 12 months.

Ongoing and effective engagement between Councils, Police and Fire and the NAS.

More skills and knowledge around the business case for Apprenticeships.

More confidence and know how in promoting Apprenticeship opportunities with young people.

More effective use of contract compliance to promote Apprenticeships.
