Economic Growth

Our vision  bottom of page
We aim to secure strong and sustainable economic growth throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. Due to the current economic climate, this has never been more important or challenging, and our communities are looking to us to provide them with confidence and security. We intend to deliver this through dynamic leadership and effective strategies.

Objectives

To realise our goals and meet the challenges our region faces, these are our objectives:

  • We will show a pro-active approach by responding positively to the economic downturn and preparing for the inevitable upturn.
  • We will create a more flexible workforce across our regions through training and educating.
  • We will give our communities hope by focusing on those with low skills, low aspirations and low incomes.
  • We will take steps to help our most deprived communities.
  • We will complement the work of the Leaders Board and Joint Regional Board, making sure the region has the capacity and capability to deliver.
  • We will support our cities and functional sub-regions to respond through effective collaborative working.

In response to the economic challenges we face, we have reviewed our original spend allocation for this workstream and increased the amount for 2009/10 to £1,000,000

Economic Growth:
Spend Allocated 2008/09 £232,886
