Our vision bottom of page
our aim is to create sustainable local and regional strategies, and support projects that deliver real benefits to the people and the businesses within our communities.
We’ll do this by working closely with our partners to deliver the Climate Change Plan for Yorkshire and Humber. This will help everyone prepare for, adapt to, and limit the impact of climate change, including the threat of flooding.
Objectives
The key areas for our Climate Change programme:
- Local Leadership - build on the work already pioneered in West Yorkshire. This includes understanding climate change resilience and flood prevention and reducing carbon emissions.
- Climate change in schools – identify Local Authorities already delivering energy efficiency in schools and promoting climate change messages, and use this to develop best practice.
- Engaging citizens on combating climate change – encourage and help people to work hard to reduce their own emissions. This is a key priority of the Climate Change Plan for Yorkshire and Humber.
- Understanding local areas' actions on climate change - Local Climate Change Audit.
- Reducing our carbon footprint and adapting to the effects of climate change.
Our work will not only deliver on reducing carbon emissions and preparing for climate change, but also result in significant efficiency savings across the region.
