South Yorkshire Schools Climate Change Plan

July 29, 2010 - Lead Organisation: Sheffield City Council

Summary:
An exciting new project, the South Yorkshire Schools Climate Change Plan, is helping schools across South Yorkshire to share their ideas for tackling climate change.

The purpose of the project:
The four South Yorkshire local authorities identified through their sub regional Climate Change Network that schools play a key role in the move towards a sustainable low carbon South Yorkshire. The aim of the South Yorkshire Schools Climate Change project was to bring together schools in Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley to encourage and support them in taking positive action against climate change.

The schools throughout the sub-region each have their own ideas for cutting carbon emissions and reducing the effects of climate change. Rather than working in isolation, the South Yorkshire Schools Climate Change Plan helps these schools to share their findings so that together all schools can form a coherent and effective plan of action in the attack on climate change.
