External Service Redesign

July 29, 2010 - Lead Organisation: East Riding of Yorkshire Council

Summary:
Within our communities there are groups of people who rely on different services to make their lives more comfortable or enjoyable. Equally, service providers rely on potential customers for their businesses to succeed. The challenge is to ensure that the right services are in place in the areas where people need them most and to raise the profile of the exiting services available.

The External Service Redesign project is addressing this challenge by mapping the provision of services with the needs of people whilst supporting the service providers in achieving the personalisation agenda.

The purpose of the project:
The External Service Redesign project is using a market facilitation group to collate market intelligence to understand who is using what services in which areas. To help gather this information a questionnaire has been developed for people who use services and their carers to identify what services and support people will want in the future.

To complement this research, the market facilitation group is also identifying what services are already being provided and a geographic information system is being used to map what services are provided, in what volume, by whom and at what cost.
