In Duisburg (Germany), on what had been the smelting ground of the Thyssen AG steel works a completely new 200 hectares landscape park has been developed. The landscape park offers numerous opportunities for leisure, recreation, sport and culture.
At the centre of the park there is a decommissioned metalworks which has been turned into a new multi-use entertainment complex. Following the study tour to Duisburg, North East Lincolnshire Council is in the process of redeveloping an old Ice Works in Grimsby into a multi-use entertainment and conference resource. This project has directly resulted from the study tour to Duisburg and is being built upon the learning and good practice we got from our German colleagues.
